Our team, Capability Development branch, (HRMTC) within the Human resources Division is currently recruiting for an Instructional Designer (for an initial 11 months, but subject to extension) to contribute to our learning transformation. This role will be responsible for developing and delivering world-class learning programs to ensure WFP’s global workforce is equipped with the required skill and capabilities to achieve its strategic objectives. The role is part of a small central capability team servicing a range of internal clients and stakeholders across the organization with learning solutions. These solutions will focus on building functional and core capabilities for a variety of audiences across functions and regions (ex. Nutrition, Partnership, IT, Monitoring and etc.)

Key Responsibilities include:
* Partner with Functional areas and Country Offices to develop learning solutions to meet a range of business needs – new strategic direction, performance gaps, new skill and capability requirements

* Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and local learning focal points and provide instructional design expertise through all phases of learning solution (e.g., detailed training needs analyses, identification and development of appropriate design and delivery mechanism to meet needs of target audience, development of content and evaluation criteria.

* Design and development of instructional materials for assigned portfolio of projects which may include E-learning modules, face-to-face workshops, facilitator guides, participant workbooks, slide decks, storyboards, performance support tools, etc.)

* Advise functional subject-matter expert colleagues on effectively and efficiently designing and developing their (blended) learning solutions

* Manage relationships with external vendors throughout project life cycle as needed;

* Development of learning standards and toolkits that can be used by used across the organization by SMES and other learning focal points.

Qualifications & Experience Required
Education:
* University degree in Adult Education, Human Resources, Instructional Design, or related field;

Experience:
* Minimum of 5 years instructional design experience, including e-learning and rapid design principles; or combined work experience and education.
* Work experience in the UN environment is desirable.
* Experience in working with a range of external learning vendors

Technical Skills & Competencies:
* Understand models of design (ADDIE); virtual facilitation tools (WebEx); learning needs analysis, content management systems; and learning management systems, experience with SuccessFactors LMS is preferred;
* Depth of experience in authoring tools (ex. Captivate, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, etc.);
* Knowledgeable of the different learning technologies and open / free online learning resources and;
* Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and accomplish tasks with follow-through to completion;
* Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence internally with various stakeholders and subject matter experts across business functions, levels and geographical areas;
* Strong creative problems solving skills; agile, flexible and patient; ability to work with ambiguity, constructive approach to overcoming challenges and build consensus across diverse and global teams.

Language:
* Fluency in oral and written English is required;
* Proficiency in another official UN language (Arabic, French, Russian, Chinese or Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working language) would be desirable.
