Private Sector Partnership Officer (Leadership Giving)

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the Leadership Giving programme in Private Sector Partnership (PSP) Italy, Greece and Portugal, making recommendations for strategy and planning of activities. S/he will supervise the PSP Leadership Giving team in Italy, under the direction of the PSP Officer and with technical support and inputs from the European and International PSP team. The PSP Officer (Leadership Giving) will play a leading role within the PSP Rome Regional team (including Portugal and Greece) being responsible for further expansion of corporate, foundations, HNWI, Major Donors and legacy fund raising and strategy setting. S/he will directly manage a portfolio of approximately 25 LG accounts in the Region and S/he will supervise the management of the entire portfolio of accounts in Rome Region, (approximately 50). This will include nurturing existing accounts, negotiating new partnership and grant agreements, participating and organising high profile events to expand networking opportunities.

S/he will be responsible to identify and implement short and long-term LG strategies in the Region, including staffing needs, budget requirements and income growth projections.

Upon request of the Regional Manager s/he will have responsibility for supporting existing PSP LG markets in the Europe region providing induction, training and any other requested assistance to LG fundraisers in the European market. S/he will support the Regional manager in the identification of key industrial sectors to be approached within the European market.

FUNCTIONAL STATEMENT
Accountability
- The LG Rome Region Annual giving income target is achieved according to agreed annual budget and plan.
- The LG Rome Region Annual expenditure budget is under control according to agreed annual budget.

Responsibility
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive LG Rome region PSP strategy.
- Support the development of Rome Region PSP Annual Plans and Budgets.
- Monitor and provide reporting on investment according to the established timelines and schedule.
- Conduct regular risk assessment to identify any potential risk to investment and income projections, devise and implement mitigation strategies and advise the Global PSP Officer of any such risks.
- Develop/oversee and manage relations with key Rome Region LG donors.
- Maximize visibility opportunities for UNHCR by pursuing opportunities arising from the interaction with influent/affluent donors/prospects where communication opportunities can be associated to cash support.
- Ensure that a robust prospect list of LG donors is defined every year and kept constantly updated and that a significant number of face to face meetings with prospect donors takes place.
- Build solid stewardship plans aimed at increasing engagement of existing donors stretching donation to their effective capacity and ensuring that they will remain loyal to the organisation in the long term.
- Support Rome Region LG team Capacity Development.
- Provide support, advice and training to LG fundraisers in the European market.
- Manage and/or oversee the LG Rome Region budget, expenditure, and human resources (UNHCR internal and affiliated staff through UNOPS).
- Ensure that the LG Rome regional team is compliant with UNHCR procedures related to the partnership with the private sector.
- Assume any other tasks related to the regional and international aspects of the corporate fundraising as required.
- Perform any additional duties as requested by the Global PSP Officer and the Regional Manager.

Authority
- Define and propose the PSP Leadership Giving plan and budget according to the PSFR Officer indications and timeline based on the PSP Global instructions.
- Manage agreed activities within the approved budget.
- Lead, manage and encourage staff to seek out for permanent improvements to the fundraising programs.-

ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- University degree in Marketing, International Relations, Political/Social Sciences or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 6 years in Private Sector Fundraising with exposure to the international environment.
- Excellent analytical, conceptual and superior communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Experience in developing corporate partnerships, foundations grant programs and in managing HNWI/Major Donors.
- Current market knowledge of PSP in the region is essential.
- Negotiated and secured corporate partnerships for a high monetary value (> 500,000 Euro preferably cash).
- Proven ability to meet fundraising targets.
- Ability to explain complex issues to external donors and present the organization and diverse operations in an appealing and concise manner.
- Good communicator with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Excellent knowledge of English and Italian (written/oral/comprehension)

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES. 
- Familiarity with the UN in general and a good knowledge of UNHCR operations both at Headquarters and in the Field.
- PSP experience in international humanitarian organizations.
- Training ability and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of the UN system.
- Knowledge of other UN language or a language of PSP's key countries in the region.
