Location: Hybrid (home and office based, ideally in London)
Contract: 2 Years fixed term contract
Hours: 35 hours
Salary: up to £49,000 (plus Inner London weighting, £3,344, if applicable) per annum


The British Red Cross has a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative and analytical person to join our international team as a Business Development Manager. This role is ideal if you have experience of working closely with both fundraising and programme teams. And you can ensure partner-led development and design of programmes which appeal to donors.

A Day in the life of the Business Development Manager (Asia)
 
You will play a key role in scoping opportunities and working with country offices and partners. Thus ensuring high quality programme and proposal design and development. You'll lead regional programme development efforts, including working closely with fundraising on stewarding all phases of the business development process. This can include opportunity identification, pre-positioning, partnership, proposal development and submission, due diligence, and donor engagement.

You’ll be a crucial representative for the region, well versed in the British Red Cross' humanitarian impact, footprint and strategy. You’ll closely collaborate with our programmes and fundraising teams, particularly Heads of Region and Country Managers. Your endeavour will be essential for fulfilling our commitments under the BRC international strategy and regional action plan.

This role will primarily be based in the UK, with occasional travel to Asia as needed. 

In order to be successful in this position you must have the following skills and experience:
  • Experience of working in the international humanitarian and development sector in a programme development role, preferably working in humanitarian contexts. 
  • Proven track record of successful programme development securing large and/or complex tenders or grants with a range of multilateral and bilateral donors, including FCDO.
  • Adeptness in networking and maximizing funding opportunities.
  • Passion for working with partners and familiar with consortium working. 
  • Skilled in strategic thinking in relation to programme design and how best to work collaboratively with fundraising teams and a range of income streams. 
  • Proven track record of humanitarian diplomacy skills, negotiation and influencing.
  • Strong commitment to localisation and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
