About DRC   
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental and non-profit organization, founded in 1956, that works in more than 35 countries around the world. DRC is one of the largest protection actors in Kenya, actively coordinating and advocating for improving the protective environment for refugees and host communities.  DRC implements Protection monitoring, Child Protection and GBV prevention and response programmes in its areas of operation to address protection issues faced by displaced and non-displaced at-risk groups and individuals. The programme also aims to identify and build synergies with DRC´s Economic Recovery sector to facilitate durable solutions and Humanitarian Disarmament & Peace Building activities to enhance to respond to the needs of communities affected by acute crisis as well as those in protracted displacement situations.      

Overall purpose of the role: 
The incumbent core duty shall include mobilization of target POC, offering quality training on Painting and Development of safe working habits, and use of basic painting tools and equipment safely and correctly Performing the necessary adjustments on painting components.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Livelihoods Project Management

  • Undertake Community mobilization & sensitization activities for all DRC VST especially those in Painting trade tests.
  • Offer quality training on painting to our beneficiary students touching on, designing, measuring, drawing, and finishing. 
  • Develop safe working habits and use basic painting tools and equipment safely and correctly
  • To provide knowledge & training in the use of tools & equipment used in the Painting trade and painting terminology among the beneficiary students 
  • Enhancing the employability & entrepreneurial skills of the students
  • Manage classroom resources.
  • Prepare weekly, and monthly progress reports of DRC program activities directly involved in within the camp including documentation of success stories/best practices.
  • Adequately share the DRC feedback mechanism with beneficiaries, to allow for timely feedback on emerging complaints/complements concerning program implementation in close consultation with the relevant national staff.
  • Facilitate and adhere to none violent conflict resolution mechanisms among program beneficiaries
  • Mainstream CHS in all DRC interventions being implemented in the designated camp.

Program Development Monitoring and Evaluation.

  • Regularly participate in the program monitoring and evaluation activities including training needs assessment exercises, data collection/surveys, revolving funds, and grants support in Ifo camp.
  • Participate in all camp coordination/review meetings, ensuring effective involvement of relevant camp leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Provide effective and timely feedback to communities regarding project progress and challenges regularly.

Coordination and partnership

  • Work in liaison with DRC national staff and relevant stakeholders (community leaders, youth rep, other agency staff, etc.) to promote partnership and reap the multiple benefits of synergy.
  • Represent DRC in camp meetings in the absence of the supervisor/national staff.

Experience and technical competencies 

  • Experience in Painting training
  • Ability to adapt to changing program priorities and emergency priorities that may arise.
  • Good planning and organizational skills coupled with conflict-solving capabilities.
  • A team player ready to work harmoniously with colleagues in realizing DRC goals.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working in a refugee program

  • Preferably Diploma trained from recognized technical training institutions

Conditions  

  • Contract: One year contract with possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance. Salary and other conditions are offered in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment. 
  • Availability:  May 2024
  • Duty station: The position will be based in DRC Dadaab, Dadaab Refugee Camp
