Purpose of consultancy

The consultant is expected to continue the development of WHO benchmarks for the practice of Nuad Thai.

Background

Driven by the country needs, WHO is committed to setting norms and standards through a series of benchmarks for traditional and complementary medicine, including the benchmarks for practice of Nuad Thai.

To take the development process forward, a working group meeting, followed by an extended peer review, needs to be organized to finalize the draft benchmarks.

Deliverables

  • Deliverable 1: Preparation of a working group meeting.
    Expected by September 2024
    • Task 1.1: To organize the meeting to review the first draft.
    • Task 1.2: To prepare the second draft based on meeting consensus.
  • Deliverable 2: Finalization of the benchmark document.
    Expected by December 2024
    • Task 2.1: To conduct peer review to receive feedback.
    • Task 2.2: To prepare the third draft based on feedback opinions.

Qualifications, experience, skills and languages

Educational Qualifications:

Essential:

  • First level university degree in traditional medicine.

Desirable:

  • An advanced university degree in global health.

Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in traditional medicine.
  • International experience or exposure in professional settings.

Desirable:

  • Prior working experience with WHO.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of evidence generation for development of technical product.
  • Knowledge of publication clearance process within WHO.
  • Skill in organizing technical meetings in line with established protocol.
  • Skill in collaborating with field experts to facilitate consultation.

Languages required:

Essential:

Expert knowledge of English.

Location

Off site: Home-based.

Travel

The consultant is not expected to travel.

Remuneration and budget (travel costs are excluded):

Remuneration:

Band level A - USD 3,955 - 6,980 per month.

Living expenses (A living expense is payable to on-site consultants who are internationally recruited):

N/A

Expected duration of contract:

6 months.

The Consultant shall be solely responsible for withholding and paying any taxes, duties, social security contributions and any other contributions which are applicable to the Consultant in each location/jurisdiction in which the work hereunder is performed, and the Consultant shall not be entitled to any reimbursement thereof by WHO.
