CIMMYT is seeking two dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professionals for the position of Financial Analyst to ensure proper recording of financial transactions in CIMMYT.

The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.

Specific Duties:

  • Prepared specific reports required by Treasury Department, GFS Senior Finance Manager according to any strategy or compliance controls required.
  • Ensure proper recording of financial transactions into Quick books, or any ERP and support finance teams during monthly consolidation and submission of monthly reports from Regional Offices to Head Quarters Finance Departments.
  • Facilitate independent the work of auditors when undergoing an audit and prepare management response to the auditor recommendations, in compliance with donor rules and regulations; ensure follow up of auditor recommendations and CIMMYT Finance Compliance Department.
  • Conduct a weekly, biweekly, and monthly review of balances with a view to reconciling them according to CIMMYT accounting best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Review, prepare and submit to Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations (BSAR) and other internal control requirements as dictated by CIMMYT HQ and/or supervisor.
  • Participate and report activities in special projects that the Finance Unit from HQ requires monthly, quarterly, and annually as for example: a) Physical counts of fixed assets; b) Annual reports of payments to NARS and Collaborators: c) Annual report of Leasing contracts to comply with IAS-16: d) Annual Support to provide information to HQ Financial Planning Dept. for annual budget compliance and reports and, e) Other activities and projects requested by Finance Unit from HQ.

Other activities related to continuous improvement for Treasury department requirements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Ability of analyzing databases, CSV files, and excel worksheets, BI experience it is a high point to consider for candidates.
  • Experience of 5 or more years in Audit and Tax advising firms is a high qualification for this position or in a similar position.
  • Familiarity with Non-for-profit environment and Funder/Donor regulatory environment and processes
  • Experience in computerized accounting and knowledge of Quick Books and ERP environments (NetSuite, Dynamics AX, Business ONE, etc.)
  • In addition, the candidate is it highly considered if candidate has a valid membership certificate of any of the following professional accounting bodies or similar bodies: CPA, CMA, CIS, ACCA, or CIMA in Mexico.
  • Advanced level of English (written and conversational). English will be tested, and the candidate should score a minimum of C1 o CEFR.
  • The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Organization, Critical thinking, Teamwork, Client Orientation, Problem-solving Decision-making, Negotiation, and Conflict resolution.
