Duties and Responsibilities

ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations and promotes cooperation among its Member States in pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges. ESCAP supports inclusive, resilient and sustainable development in the region by generating action-oriented knowledge, and by providing technical assistance and capacity-building services in support of national development objectives, regional agreements and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The Social Development Division (SDD) promotes social protection, fosters gender equality, and strengthens social inclusion of persons with disabilities, older persons, youth and migrants, among others.

Driven by the pledge of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to “leave no-one behind”, SDD facilitates regional intergovernmental dialogues of international and regional frameworks for cooperation, including within the context of the 2030 Agenda and the Regional Road Map for Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific; the Beijing Declaration and Platform of Action; the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Incheon Strategy; the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development; the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing; and the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration. SDD also presents original research and evidence-based policy analysis on inequality of opportunity and on identifying the furthest behind; social protection; gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls; ageing societies and older persons; international migration; population and development issues; and the rights of persons with disabilities. Finally, SDD builds capacities in the Asia-Pacific region through national level activities that support governments to accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and other global and regional frameworks.

In order to enhance the visibility of the activities carried out by Social Development Division (SDD), the Division is seeking a contractor to deliver visual design and communications services. The contractor is expected to assist Social Affairs Officers in developing and preparing visual communications products which enhance SDD’s presence in intergovernmental meetings, online platforms and other promotional materials.

*All materials and content developed during the contractor services remain the property of ESCAP. The Contractor will not be recognized within the work produced. Multimedia material produced under this contract is for non-commercial purposes. The UN and partners reserve the right to use the material produced under this contractor services in not-for-profit advocacy, promotional events and platforms such as intergovernmental meetings, public events, social media, television, and on other related online and offline channels.

The use of audiovisual material and any other third-party information, including those covered under a Creative Commons license, must adhere to their respective terms of use and be appropriately credited in the final product. A list of sources for material used must also be provided to ESCAP with the final product delivery files of the contractor.
