Palestine - Head of Mission

East Jerusalem | Gaza

COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale, is a humanitarian, non-confessional and independent organization founded in 1965 in Milan, Italy. For more than 50 years we have been dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and to supporting populations affected by wars, socio-economic crises or natural disasters in their path to recovery and sustainable development, by making use of the professionalism of local and international operators, and through our partnerships with public and private bodies and civil society organizations.

The Occupied Palestinian Territories are marked by extreme instability, and operating in this particular context has become more and more problematic because of the precarious equilibrium
In this fragile context, COOPI operates since 2002 implementing projects funded by ECHO, European Union, Italian Cooperation and UN Agencies mainly with two types of project: the first relates to socio-economic services, the second to education.
Socio-economic activities are aimed at improving living conditions for marginalised groups through the creation and diversification of sources of income. Upon agreed payment terms set with the representatives of local municipalities, we employed people from vulnerable groups in the regeneration/construction of infrastructure to restore services and waste collection.
In the education sector, meanwhile, we provide access to primary education for children and endeavour to improve the quality of professional training for adolescents in order to facilitate their entry into the labour market through up-to-date courses in line with market requirements, modern equipment and public-private partnerships.

Although COOPI has been working in Gaza, West Bank and Jerusalem, at the moment is only present in East Jerusalem and is carrying projects of vocational training and protection addressed to the Palestinian population.
