Jointly established by 194 Member States of the United Nations in 2010, GCF invests in transformational projects that build low-emission and climate-resilient economies in developing countries. The Fund will serve as an enabler of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, channelling significant financial resources to developing countries to make an ambitious contribution to global climate action.

To realize this unprecedented mission, GCF is expanding its workforce. It is seeking an Associate Professional – Private Sector Facility (AP-PSF) who will be part of a growing organization that offers exciting challenges and responsibilities. Position description

The AP-PSF, as part of the Fund’s Songdo-based headquarters team will be responsible for assisting the team with a range of operational and analytical tasks necessary for the ongoing operationalization of the Fund. Duties and responsibilities

The AP-PSF will be performing the following duties:

  • Research, collect and analyse data, draft written reports and engagement through e-mail and phone calls with the Fund’s staff, entities and other stakeholders;
  • Provide operational support in pipeline development, proposal review, investment proposal draft and portfolio monitoring;
  • Build and operate financial models and conduct related risk, sensitivity and scenario analysis;
  • Carry out second level due diligence of financial institutions and private equity funds
  • Liaise with domain level specialists within GCF to obtain their specific inputs on funding proposals
  • Provide support to Private Sector Facility (PSF) staff for: (a) Identify key investment risks and work with financial intermediaries to structure solutions that address said risks; (b) Maintain relationships with investors, project sponsors, peers and other stakeholders and also manage third party project advisors and consultants; Support the Board meetings and other events and meetings related to the functioning of the Fund. This may include assisting in the preparation of relevant documentation, taking meeting minutes, preparing summaries of discussion for the Report and providing support for the drafting of decisions;
  • Provide support to the Committees, panels and groups of the Fund as deemed necessary;
  • Draft Board and Private Sector Advisory Group (PSAG) related documents;
  • Manage the process as relates to the incoming bids / responses to the issued RFPs; and
  • Perform additional operation tasks assigned by the Director and the specialists.

Required experience and qualifications

  • Master’s level in economics, finance, sustainable development, climate policy, environmental sciences or related fields;
  • Four years of relevant work experience including two years in Climate finance
  • Experience in an international setting
  • Strong competence and autonomy in the use of standard software programmes: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage
