Purpose of the Position

The incumbent of this post will assist the Finance Officer/Senior Finance Assistant in parking and processing variousdocuments for the department of Finance in Invoice Processing, General Accounting, Payments and MDM unit in the GSSC Office. The incumbent will be responsible for transactionaldata entry into electronic systems for verification.

Key Accountabilities and Duties & Tasks

  • Pre-Processing.
  • Receive and open cases.
  • Review case documentation for completeness.
  • Review case documentation for validity and conformity with current rules and regulations.
  • Under the guidance of supervisor, determine the appropriate action(s) based on case details.
  • Processing.
  • Process transactions in VISION / other tools as initiated by cases or regularly scheduled activities.
  • Upload electronic/batch files and verify results in destination system. If at any point the process fails, report to supervisor for guidance on action.
  • Prepare required documentation and submit transactions for approval.
  • Update and close cases to reflect accurate status.
  • Quality Assurance.
  • Ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to supervisors.
  • Execute all required processing controls (e.g. eligibility, policy compliance, duplicate checking,transaction/employee/account status verification, other).
  • Self-QA review/completed transactions for accuracy, reconciling source data to outputs.
  • Client Service.
  • Respond to client transaction status and other inquiries.
  • Escalate inquiries requiring more extensive research.
  • Qualifications of Successful Candidate

  • Completion of secondary education (i.e. high school diploma) is a minimum requirement. University level courses infinance, accounting or business are desirable.
  • IT skills and working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of Products (including MS Word, MS Excel & MS PowerPoint) isrequired.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience in administration and finance is required*, preferably with the UNor other international organization
  • *A completed university degree from an accredited institution (i.e. degree certificate in-hand) will be counted towards theminimum work experience requirements.
  • Previous hands-on experience in planning, organizing and delivering administrative support services is highly desirable.
  • Work experience with a development organization is an asset.
  • Knowledge of UN / UNICEF'S rules, regulations and procedures is desirable.
  • Proven ability to deal with confidential and sensitive communication and information is desirable.
  • Proven ability to organize and prioritize is desirable.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written) is required. Knowledge of an additional UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French,Russian, Spanish) is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the local language of the duty station is an asset.
  • A completed university degree from an accredited institution will be counted towards the minimum work experience requirement.
  • Non - Hungarian citizens must be in possession of a work permit or be nationals of EU countries. Please note thatGeneral Service (GS) staff are locally recruited staff and therefore, candidates are personally responsible for any traveland accommodation arrangements.     Based on the Organization's requirements of services at the time of appointment, contract durations may range fromfive and a half months up to one year. Upon completion of this initial fixed-term contract, extension will be subject tosatisfactory performance, continued requirements of services, and medical clearance.

    Monthly emoluments will be made in the local currency, the Hungarian Forint.

    Onboarding dates will be determined on a case by case basis contingent on the business needs of the center.

    The working schedule for certain functions will be determined according to the needs of the Organization.
