CONTENT WRITER, POLIO ERADICATION SECTION

Purpose of assignment:

Hiring a content writer to generate different types of write up pieces, including human interest stories, Op-eds, profiles, fact sheets, press releases, situation reports, and newsletter.

The write ups will be used primarily to document the lessons learned for the Pakistan Polio Eradication Initiative in line with the communication strategy and guidelines of the Polio Eradication Initiative programme and narrative built around the National Emergency Action Plan 2016-2017.

The write ups are planned to be used to:

  • Document innovative initiatives that are part of the final push towards eradication of polio in Pakistan as a key element of legacy;
  • Maintain and strengthen donor support through to certification of a polio-free Pakistan;
  • Build wider public support for global eradication through portraying the people at the center of eradication efforts;
  • Build national support for frontline workers.

    Task to be Performed:

    1- On need basis and under the guidance of the Communication Specialist/Polio, undertakes research and establishes communication with programme managers and actors to identify, conceptualize and produces write ups for local and external dissemination.

    2- On need basis and under the guidance of the Communication Specialist/Polio, generates content, package and produces newsletter for local and external dissemination.

    Deliverable(s)

  • Forty (450-500 words) write ups, including human interest stories, Op-eds, profiles, fact sheets, press releases, and situation reports.
  • Twelve issues of a 4-pager newsletter.
  • Work Schedule:

    January-December 2017

    TERMS OF PAYMENT:

    (no more than 30% advance/

    Final payment no less than 10%)

    1- Professional fee to be paid on completion of each approved/cleared assignment.

    2-Travel and DSA will be reimbursed as per actual expenses and the applicable UN policy and rates.

    3-UNICEF shall issue a job order expressing the nature of the assignment, deliverables, estimated cost and production timeline for each assignment.

    4-Payments shall be made at the submission and acceptance/approval of each assignment by the supervising Communication Specialist.

    5-UNICEF shall cover the professional fee in PKR equivalent to US $250 per assignment for a write up and US $ 400 for a newsletter issue assignment.

    6-UNICEF shall have exclusive ownership of the write ups that would be submitted and accepted as such by UNICEF and due credit would be given to the programme/author.

    The consultant shall be required to travel to all provinces, districts and sub-districts in Pakistan on need-basis to gather the desired content as per the Assignment and Travel Plan.
