Senior Corporate Relations Officer (PSP)


Reporting to the Chief of Section (Private Sector Partnerships Service, Leadership Giving Section), the incumbent will lead some of the organisation's key private sector partnerships providing overall strategic direction, relationship management and oversight.

Collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders is vital to success in this role. The incumbent will have to establish excellent working relationships internally with key staff across the organization, and externally with private partnership counterparts, major donors and other stakeholders.

External work relationships and contacts:
- Private partnership staff and co-workers.
- Suppliers, consultants, agencies and advisors.

Internal work relationships and contacts:
- Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP), including Fundraising Support Section, Fundraising   Communication, Network Support, and the broader fundraising network, including national fundraising partners.
- Relevant Services within the Division of External Relations (DER), including Donor Relations and Resource Mobilization (DRRM), Public Information and Strategic Communications.
- Regional Bureaux and geographical Desks overseeing operations where the partnership supported projects and   programmes are implemented.
- UNHCR Field Operations where private partnership supported projects and programmes are implemented.
- UNHCR Divisions and Services providing technical guidance and advice on areas of interest to private partnerships, including the Division of Financial and Administrative Management (DFAM), the Legal Affairs Service (LAS), and the Education Service within the Division of International Protection (DIP).


- Key private partnerships are developed and managed in close cooperation and coordination with a wider PSP team, DIP Education and other relevant Divisions and Services.
- Partnership work plans are developed and maintained and other tools for growing the partnerships are in place.
- Income and goals for the partnership accounts are achieved.
- PSP policy and guidelines on private partnerships are upheld.

- Contribute to the design of the UNHCR Private Partnership Strategy and oversee its implementation.
- Ensure overall coordination and stewardship of the key partnerships, except specific components managed directly by thematic services.
- Coordinate, in consultation with PSP, thematic services and field operations, the development of funding proposals, ensuring that funds are directed toward core activities, that adequate budget space is available, and that present and future implementation capacity is duly taken into account in the planning process.
- Coordinate, in consultation with PSP and thematic services, the development of interim and final reports, ensuring that partnership reporting requirements and deadlines are met, in line with jointly agreed reporting schedules.
- Serve as the focal point for all internal and external communication issues concerning the partnerships, and advise senior managers accordingly.
- Communicate accurate and timely information in a persuasive manner to the partner about UNHCR¿s programs and activities, with a focus on giving appropriate visibility and recognition to their support with a focus on their positive impact on UNHCR populations of concern.
- Guide and accompany the partner on missions to UNHCR field operations, including camps and sites, as well as on the occasion of special events, such as the Nansen Refugee Award Ceremony.
- Provide briefings to UNHCR senior staff about the partnership, as required.
- Provide briefings and presentations about the partnership to external audiences, as required.
- Track and monitor all contributions made to UNHCR, ensuring in particular that payments are made according to agreed schedules, and that appropriate invoices and receipts are issued.
- Ensure that meticulous records are kept of all approaches to the partner and their outcomes recorded.
- Ensure that all documentation related to contributions made by the partner, including legal agreements, meet UNHCR¿s standards and audit requirements.
- Provide monthly, quarterly and annual funding data and updates, including for PSFR budgeting and reporting purposes.

- Develop and manage private partnerships.
- Develop initiatives to promote public awareness of UNHCR and persons of concern and obtain financial support for UNHCR activities.

- Advanced university degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences, Public Relations, International Relations, Communications or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years (12 years with university degree) of relevant work experience.
- Training and participation in events related to fundraising, corporate social responsibility and partnership brokering.
- Previous relevant work experience in a not-for-profit organization.
- All round experience of private partnerships fundraising techniques, including obtaining financial support for projects, securing in-kind donations, employee giving, consumer fundraising, cause related marketing and other forms of partnership engagement.
- Experience in handling donor visibility and recognition programs.
- Demonstrated leadership, revenue growth and strategy setting experience in private sector fundraising, leading a team raising significant donations ($10 million plus) from private sector donors and partners.
- Experience of effective communication at senior levels and with private sector leaders, providing compelling cases for support and proposals.
- Superior ability in explaining complex issues to external donors, presenting the organization and diverse operations in an appealing and concise manner, and understanding how to reconcile the needs of the organization with those of the corporate partner.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.

- Knowledge of humanitarian assistance and UN environment preferred.
- Understanding of the complexities of working with an international organization with multiple geographical     operational sites.
- Proven project management and excellent organization skills.
- Knowledge of another UN language.
