Description of duties: Within the research framework of the NEP Group and under the guidance of the Group Head, the incumbent is expected to:- support the supervisor in his research initiatives as well as contribute to the design, planning, and/or conduct of epidemiologic studies on metabolomics, endogenous hormones, gene variants and colorectal cancer.- conduct data collection and statistical data analyses of on-going and future epidemiologic studies mainly in the field of the microbiome and colorectal cancer.- provide input on scientific manuscripts and/or reports.- contribute to the writing, coordination and management of grant applications in relevant research areas.- perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education:Essential: PhD in epidemiology, with a focus on cancer epidemiology.Desirable: Postgraduate training in molecular epidemiology. Skills: - Excellent knowledge of cancer epidemiology in particular the role of metabolism in cancer etiology; - Advanced knowledge of statistical methods with a particular focus on data arising from molecular epidemiology and 'omics' studies;- Proven ability to draft reports and familiarity with the preparation of grant applications;- Excellent knowledge of statistical software such as STATA, SAS etc;- Excellent organization and communication skills.- Strong publication record in the relevant research area.Required WHO competencies:Ability to:- Produce results- Moving forward in a changing environment- Fostering integration and teamwork- Respecting and promoting individual and cultural differences- Communicating in a credible and effective way- Knowing and managing yourself Experience: - At least two years of relevant professional experience in the field of molecular epidemiology;- Work experience in international multi-center research studies; - Experience in analyses and interpretation of molecular epidemiologic data; Languages: Excellent knowledge of English.
