Christian Aid is seeking senior staff to manage a major donor funded governance programme in Sierra Leone.

About the role

The Programme Director will lead, manage and deliver a large externally funded contract between Christian Aid and the donor.

The Programme Director is responsible for providing leadership and delivery of results for the programme, leading the management unit team. The post holder is required to ensure programme resources are allocated effectively and in a manner that makes maximum contribution to programme objectives and is compliant with the donor’s and Christian Aid requirements. They will engage and network with all relevant actors in relation to the programme and the contract between the donor and Christian Aid. The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the key contract functions are carried out in accordance with the contract.

About you

The successful applicant will have a proven track record in developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of stakeholders, with ability to manage political sensitivities effectively and constructively.
They will have demonstrable experience in governance programming and a good understanding of undertaking Political Economy Analysis (PEA) on governance programming in Sierra Leone. They will have successfully managed and delivered large donors funded programmes at scale, and have worked with a range of major donor organisations.

Quality of team leader: Should be a highly skilled, highly credible individual with experience working in dynamic and complex political context, with expertise on governance, service delivery, elections, accountability and devolution and a good understanding of the context in Sierra Leone.

Essential skills include being able to see the bigger picture, making effective decisions, leading and communicating, collaborating and partnering, managing a quality service, and delivering at pace. Should demonstrate how she/he will utilize their considerable knowledge, expertise and experience to bring the team together to deliver high quality results.
