Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist - Mali

The CAMRIS Mali Education Emergency Support Activity will repair schools and work with the Mali Ministry of Education to restore educational services for children in conflict-affected regions of the country. The three-year project will work to improve management of education services for children in the regions of Gao, Timbuktu, Kidal, Mopti and Ségou. CAMRIS will work with communities to ensure safe access to education for 80,000 students. The project will also build the communities' ability to respond to emergencies caused by armed conflict, crisis and natural disasters.

The M&E Specialist position is based in Segou, Mali, with frequent travel around the country.

Reporting to the DCOP and in collaboration with key USAID actors and the Malian Government, the M&E Specialist will be responsible for the following:

  • Determining success indicators and developing M&E workplans
  • Developing surveys and questionnaires used to collect primary and secondary data
  • Conduct appropriate data analyses using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative methods, key interviews and other methods of data collection
  • Cultivate and implement best practices in M&E and research to maximize results and performance
  • Supervises, mentors and delegates M&E staff and other staff members as necessary to ensure high quality of work
  • Develop reports and papers on relevant topics of interest and concern

  • A BA (MA prefered) in a relevant field, including International Development, Development Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, or Statistics

  • At least eight (8) years of experience providing M&E support in a similar program in Mali is preferred; previous experience with USAID is highly preferred

  • Strong research, time management and communication skills

  • Fluency in English and French is required.
