Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator (Displacement, Tracking and Monitoring (DTM)), and in close coordination with the National Information Management Officer, the Data Analysis Officer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects and functions of displacement tracking data analysis as well as various activities or projects which may develop within the DTM Unit.

\*Core Functions / Responsibilities:*****

  1. Advise on and coordinate the development and enhancement of the integrated DTM methodology for data collection and qualitative and quantitative tools.
  2. Lead the design of information/reporting packaging and the selection of indicators to monitor the evolution and characteristics of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) crisis.
  3. Lead the Longitudinal Study for IDPs in partnership with academic institutions aiming to illustrate how IDPs understand and achieve durable solutions by monitoring their coping strategies and livelihood activities during a three-year period. Initial targeted groups comprise 3,000 families throughout the country.
  4. Contribute to the design and management of databases and information systems (including geographical databases and geographical information system coding), dataset extraction for analysis, and data representation.
  5. Design methodology and data collection tools for thematic surveys and assessments.
  6. Train and support staff in tasks related to DTM data collection, surveys, and assessments.
  7. Liaise with academic institutions, think tanks, and collaborating partners on implementation of ad hoc surveys.
  8. Analyse data collected through routine DTM systems and ad hoc surveys and assessments.
  9. Participate in UN and other stakeholder technical working groups related to information management and statistical methodologies for data collection and representation.
  10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

\*Required Qualifications and Experience*****


  • Master’s degree in Demography, Population Health, Statistics or a related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
  • University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience.


  • Experience in analysis of data from large and complex information systems and household survey data;
  • Experience in the development and implementation of information management systems;
  • Proven experience in survey and questionnaire design and probabilistic sampling;
  • Research experience in the field of population studies, health, and refugees/IDPs in developed and developing countries, including field experience in survey coordination and implementation;
  • Practical field experience in domains related to relief interventions and humanitarian action (including support to displaced populations and implementation of emergency and early recovery activities), UN, and the cluster system, including CCCM;
  • Working experience in the region is an advantage.


Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.


  1. With Frequent travel to Baghdad and other governorates.
  2. Screening for some communicable diseases may be required for Iraq visa issuance.
