Purpose of the Position

 Under the general supervision of the Chief of Operations, ensure all finance VISION/SAP transactions are undertaken in line with the relevant accounting and policy requirements and interpretation. Contribute to the creation and improvement SOPs in line with VISION/SAP requirements and organizational needs.

 

Key Expected Results

Summary of key functions/accountabilities:

  1. Certify the appropriate, accurate and timely processing (including VISION/SAP) and recording of disbursements and payments, e.g. invoices, travel advances & claims, contract services, DCT etc.
  1. Provide relevant technical input for the effective and efficient management of VISION/SAP transactions for the office.
  1. Ensure that accurate and consistent interpretation and application of VISION/SAP procedures are implemented to support operational work of Chad office. Recommend improvements to SOPs for more efficiency.
  1. Control and operate bank accounts in accordance with UN/UNICEF financial rules and regulations and local banking practices. Provide up-to-date information on the cash position or status of such accounts. Reconcile Bank statements and keep abreast of all procedures and regulations regarding the maintenance of bank accounts, exchange and interest rates, etc.
  1. Ensure thatFinance team including VISION Hub provides timely, accurate transactions in a proactive and client focused manner: completion of all financial and account review transactions within appropriate timeline, with relevant feedback provided to requesting sections/units. Act as OIC on behalf of VISION Hub line manager as authorized in the Table of Authority.
  1. Maintain cash books, including control of disbursement and balancing of books and ledger work.
  1. Ensure proper reporting and overall documentation of transactions made in Finance team including VISION Hub, act as a link between the unit and sections /offices.
  1. Approve payments, analyze and clear open items (monthly) and ensure timely financial reporting using Dashboard and other information management tools.
  1. Implement regular capacity building activities for Finance and VISION team members to ensure Quality operations and VISION/SAP Transactions. Develop a team culture that embodies client service.
  1. Prepare and financial analysis data for budget estimates and financial planning.

 

Qualifications of Successful Candidate

Education

Master degree in accounting, business administration, economics or financial management and membership - or enrolled for membership - of recognized professional accountancy body.

Work Experience

Five years of relevant professional work experience. International work experience in finance, accounting and/or other related fields highly desirable. Work experience in emergency duty station is desirable

Language

Fluency in French and English required.Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
