NORCAP is a world leading standby roster which consists of more than 700 highly qualified women and men ready to deploy to international operations at short notice. Through the NORCAP mechanism, we aim to provide those at risk with access to protection and to ensure that their rights are respected throughout all stages of a crisis or disaster.

NORCAP is currently seeking education experts with experience from education in emergencies, capacity development and coordination.

Job description

As a NORCAP roster member, the exact job description will vary with each assignment. The responsibilities for an Education expert may include to review, assess and update the education situation in areas affected by an emergency, and also contribute to the work of the Education in Emergencies Working Group and its partners at national and decentralized levels, including EiE capacity development, sharing of information and establishment of basic preparedness and response tools.

Qualifications

◦5 years of relevant humanitarian experience in GBV
◦Extensive knowledge of GBV humanitarian programming
◦Higher university degree in a social science or related discipline
◦Experience in capacity building and coordination
◦Demonstrable understanding of the UN agencies’ mandates, and the main humanitarian frameworks and tools
◦Fluency in English. French and/or Arabic are considered strong assets

Education level

  • College / University, Master / Phd grade

Personal qualities

◦Ability to work in a collaborative manner with team members and with multiple stakeholders at various levels from national to sub-national and community levels.
◦Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including cultural sensitivity.
◦Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly stressful situations.
