Consultancy for Child Protection Knowledge Management

If you are a committed, creative professional and are passionate about making a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you.

For 70 years, UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children's survival, protection and development. The world's largest provider of vaccines for developing countries, UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.

Purpose of the Assignment:

  1. To develop a strategy for the Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA) Child Protection Section for Child Protection knowledge management,
  2. To develop a strategy for ROSA on Disability,
  3. To develop a strategy that is connected with the above, yet independent, knowledge management approach to support the UNFPA APRO - UNICEF ROSA efforts to end Child Marriage in the region within resources available while being useful from the users perspective.

Assignment Tasks:

  1. Review the current structure and knowledge management efforts in ROSA and in child protection.
  2. Review the current knowledge management products of the CP section, with input from the current 'users' of the products. This will include a light evaluation of the products.
  3. Review the UNICEF-UNFPA Child Marriage programme knowledge management products, with input from the current 'users' of the products.
  4. Review what platforms users are accessing to obtain their information broader than the specific UNICEF/UNFPA products noted, and what sort of information they are obtaining from those platforms, and how the information is being used.
  5. Assess the requirements of the users and if the users have the right knowledge, in an accessible format, in a timely manner. This includes looking at how users are currently using the knowledge provided
  6. Design a practical strategy for knowledge management within these three areas. The strategy needs to be 'light' considering the resources available.

Expected Deliverables:

  1. Review, mapping and evaluation of the current knowledge management materials and processes is conducted.
  2. Practical strategies for ROSA Child Protection, Disability and for the regional efforts to support the UNICEF-UNFPA Child Marriage activities are drafted.
