Systems Analyst

The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a dynamic Systems Analyst with excellent quantitative and communication skills and a high level of commitment to provide analytical and experience support to the research projects to contribute with the publication of the research paper.

The Center: CIP is a not-for-profit international agricultural research-for-development organization with a focus on potato, sweet potato, and Andean roots and tubers. Its vision is of roots and tubers improving the lives of the poor. CIP is dedicated to achieving food security, improved well-being, and gender equity for poor people in root and tuber farming and food systems of the developing world. CIP works with partners to contribute high quality science, technology, and capacity strengthening for sustainable science-based solutions. CIP is headquartered in Lima, Peru, with staff and activities in over 30 locations across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. CIP is a member of the CGIAR Consortium. CGIAR is a global agriculture research partnership for a food secure future. Its science is carried out by the 15 research centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations.

The position: This position will be based in Lima, Peru (La Molina) and will report to the Research Informatics Unit.

Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Development, implementation & Support to the Crossing Management and Seed Inventory System to Potato and Sweet-potato.
  • Training in handling thermal printers for printing labels and barcodes (Zebra Designer).
  • Administrate and maintain the Research Database in MySQL & SQL Server.
  • Support display design and research database.
  • Develop and maintain the applications developed in PHP, Java Script, CSS, JQuery, HTML5.
  • Contribute in the management of Confluence tools.
  • Maintenance and support to ISO 17025 Web page in Confluence
  • Support and maintenance to Virology Lab Info Management System (CIPVIR).
  • Availability to travel to highland and lowland. (Important)
  • Management Server (Linux)

Selection criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of experience in similar positions.
  • Experience in implementing data warehouse solutions and MySQL & SQL databases.
  • Knowledge Java, Javascript, PHP, R, MySQL, .Net, SQL Server, ExtJS framework, Bootstrap framework.
  • Ability to present ideas from judgment, objectivity and accuracy criteria observations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and work in multicultural environment.
  • Intermediate written and oral communication skills in English
  • Ability to work well independently and as team member.
