The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency food security, legal assistance, and water,sanitation and hygiene sectors.

The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 5000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. In addition, NRC runs one of the world’s largest standby rosters -NORCAP, with 650 professionals, ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs

The NRC is currently recruiting a Senior Adviser for Organisational Development. The Position is placed in the Strategic Planning and Development Section.

Job description

  • Identify organisational improvement areas
  • Define strategic organisational development projects, and when requested by Director of Department take lead on managing larger strategic projects
  • Facilitate work flow analysis on critical processes to clarify roles and responsibilities
  • Advise on issues related to accountability, governance and organisational structure
  • Contribute to trends and risk analysis
  • Contribute to annual report on results in relation to strategy for the Board of Directors (internal report)
  • Contribute to processes and initiatives aiming at stimulating innovation in NRC
  • Develop training modules and conduct training within field of expertise

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience within NRC at senior level
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Professional knowledge of organisational and strategic development processes
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to identify improvement areas and implement change
