Title: Finance Assistant  
Location: Hodeida – travel to other governorates as needed 
Level: As per DRC Yemen national staff salary grid  
Reports to (Supervisor): Finance Officer – Hodeida  
Supervisees: N/A  
Start of Contract & Duration:        Starting ASAP, Until 31 December 2017 with 3 months probationary period, with possible extension depending on both funding availability and performance 
 
Organization Background: 
DRC has been providing relief and development services in Yemen since 2008. Using right-based approaches, DRC has mainly focused on refugees and migrants displaced by conflict and natural disasters. Programs include protection, livelihoods, shelter and mine risks education, amongst others. DRC has offices in Sana’a, Aden and Hodeida and seven sub-offices along the southern coast of Yemen and in Hajjah. Programming has recently expanded throughout the country in 2014. 
 
Job Purpose: 
The Finance Assistant is responsible for preparing financial spreadsheets and supports Finance Officer in recording and retrieving financial details of the organization, including maintaining financial records, processing payments and cash handling to enable finance department to provide smooth, timely and efficient finance service to the DRC Hodeida staff.  
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure payments are allocated to the correct project codes (project number and budget line) and that shared costs are allocated appropriately across projects. 
  • Check and confirm that all procurement related necessary payment supporting documents, as per DRC procurement policies and procedures for all goods and services are complete. 
  • Responsible for Safe cash and preparing and getting verified the daily cash counts. 
  • Handling Petty Cash and payments to suppliers, any types of payment (cash, check, bank transfer). 
  • Maintain, and follow up on the cash advances with the staff.
  • Maintain a well-organized and efficient filing system/record keeping in line with DRC standard procedures. 
  • Ensure all payment documents are scanned and sent to CO on timely manner as agreed. 
  • Assist Finance Officer in maintaining and reconciling Cash and Bank balances, advances and settlements. 
  • Perform any other tasks as requested by supervisor/Area Manager. 
 
 
Ocational Duties: 
Assist Finance Officer in booking transactions on daily basis into the Cash Book in accordance with the guidelines 
Support Finance Officer in compiling weekly cash forecast/requirements of all departments 
 
 
Qualifications, Skills and Experiences:
University degree in Business Administration  
Minimum two years of professional experience in this field 
Good command of English language (written and spoken)  
Good computer skills (Ms. Office at minimum) 
Excellent organizational skills 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
Willingness and ability to work under pressure 
Willingness and ability to travel
