The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for displaced populations. NRC started operation in the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2012. We deliver humanitarian assistance in 4 provinces in the sectors of Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA).

Job description

  • Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  • Implement Logistics support function portfolio according to plan of action
  • Lead in implementation of sourcing, procurement and logistics activities in support of the NRC Iran programmes and operations
  • Work closely with Programme and finance/HR Admin units to consolidate local procurement, contracting and reporting requirements ensuring that NRC’s logistics and financial rules and procedures and standards are followed and applied
  • Lead in management of logistics supplier lists including performance monitoring and measurement and market survey as well as collaboration on development and enforcement of all required logistics Standard Operating Procedures for NRC Iran operations.
  • Ensure NRC asset management system including management of the premises is kept up to date and fully functional and logistics records are properly filed and maintained in electronic and library filing systems.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  • Ensure proper filing of documents
  • Promote and share ideas for improvement of the Logistics function
  • Travel to NRC project locations for final acceptance of projects where logistics inputs required for handover to government
  • In collaboration with ICT Officer, ensure NRC’s ICT hardware and software are kept in excellent working condition, secured and are properly registered.
  • In collaboration with Government Liaison Office, follow up on communication with Government through approved plans and channels.
  • Other duties as assigned by his/ her supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Logistics or as Support officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience working in high pace, complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Strong Logistics Core Competency expertise

Personal qualities

  • Full professional proficiency in English and Persian, both written and spoken
  • Basic knowledge of the humanitarian context and/or refugee context in Afghanistan is a plus
  • Strong ability to write reports and official correspondence
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Experience in working with contractors
