Job description

  • Prepare BoQs, Technical Drawing and Cost Estimation for WASH facilities (i.e. bore wells, boreholes, latrines, reservoir tanks, water distribution lines and points, water treatment systems, handwashing facilities, etc.) and Hygiene activities (i.e. Hygiene Promotion, HKs distribution, promotion of small technologies, etc.) at household and community level;
  • Manage the team of WASH Assistants for day-to-day field activities, in coordination with line manager;
  • Coordinate field assessments to identify needs and beneficiaries within the region;
  • Daily supervise the WASH facilities construction, ensuring the work progress is according to work plan. Promptly report to line manager any works variation during the execution and any delay;
  • Quality control of all construction activities at each stage of the progress, ensuring that all activities are in accordance with norms and standards;
  • Dealing with communities, local authorities and sectorial stakeholders during assessment, implementation and handover phases;
  • Contribute to the creation of WASH Users’ Committees for proper use and maintenance of facilities and promotion of hygiene messages after the project handovers;
  • Participate in internal and external meetings in Jalalabad;
  • Prepare WASH weekly and monthly plans;
  • Write weekly and monthly reports and submit to Shelter/WASH Coordinator;
  • Provide technical advice and training to program staff and partners where necessary.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of WASH projects implementation in urban and rural areas;
  • BSc in water or environmental or civil engineering from recognized universities;
  • At least two years hands on experience in design and implementation of WASH projects;
  • Solid field experience, preferably from returnees/IDP WASH projects;
  • Ability to collect and analyze the data to direct program implementation priorities;
  • Experience in capacity building and training of staff/community;
  • Experience in designing, implementing and maintenance of water supply systems and sanitation facilities in emergency through participatory approach;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain and present technical information;
  • Computer literacy in MS office and AutoCAD;
  • Pashto language is mandatory, English is desirable.
