BACKGROUND
IUCN Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (ECARO) is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic candidate to join the IUCN ECARO team and lead its communication work. The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the IUCN Strategic Plan for ECARO with particular focus on communications and the development of a related portfolio of activities.
JOB DESCRIPTION
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• In close cooperation with the IUCN ECARO Director the Regional Communications Officer will be responsible for the coordination and the implementation of communications related activities in the region, including both the regional work plan and project portfolio
• The priority tasks of the Communication Officer will entail the work on the projects already under implementation
• Ensure that overall IUCN ECARO programme communication is in accordance with the IUCN Programme 2017-2020 and the IUCN Strategic Plan for ECARO while aiming to promote IUCN's mission, values and knowledge products and to increase IUCN's visibility and presence in the region
• Maintain communication with IUCN Members, Commissions, and partners

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Ensure ECARO project proposals include communications and visibility components
• Provide strategic communications support in agreement with project managers, with the goal of ensuring effective use of IUCN resources, maintaining quality and supporting the IUCN brand
• Comply with all administrative reporting schedules, including input on reports to donors for communications and private sector components of their projects
• Manage the IUCN ECARO webpage and ensure it's regular updates with news, project and policy information, and members' and commissions' news
• Produce web stories, articles, summaries and publications including the editing of IUCN ECARO Newsletter
• Coordinate the preparation of communication material and promotion of IUCN ECARO beyond projects and existing communication tools
• Oversee regional media and public relations efforts including proactive media engagement
• Maintain communication with other IUCN offices and constituencies in the ECARO region and represent IUCN ECARO at meetings as necessary


SALARY

The gross annual salary for this position is in the range from EUR 21.222 to EUR 26.244, subject to deductions for social security contributions and health insurance, and before tax.
