The Middle East Regional Office was created in January 2014 as part of NRC’s reorganization process. We currently have more than 2,000 staff in the Middle East region assisting people displaced by conflict in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan and Palestine, working in the shelter, education, food security, legal assistance and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors with strong protection and resilience focus integrated into our programs.
The Norwegian Refugee Council is calling applications for specialized qualified candidates in the Education sector in an Emergency/Recovery Context. Qualified vetted candidates who meet the minimum requirements will be added to the Regional CVs Roster.
Ideally, the candidate should have experience implementing education programs remotely and/or on the grounds, has exposure working on start-ups, and someone who can confidently navigate through the challenges of a high risk environment within a complex context.
An Education Project Manager is expected to perform the following duties:
- Line management for project staff
- Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Contribute to the development of Country, Area and Education strategies, initiate and participate in the development of relevant Education projects
Coordinate and manage Education project implementation (activities, budget and project documentation) in line with proposals, strategies and donor requirements
Implement technical direction and ensure hightechnical quality of projects
Provide regular progress reports to the AreaManager and the Core Competency Specialist
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection, explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Develop and manage project budget (in cooperation with Cs) and coordinate across CCs
Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
Generic professional competencies:
Minimum 3 years of experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context
Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Technical Core Competence expertise
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
Fluency in English, both written and verbal
Valid driver’s license
