Community Committee Assistant(National staff only) –Kobayat Akkar, Lebanon

We are looking for a highly qualified candidate who can fit the position of Community Committee Assistant based in Kobayat Akkar.

 
Who are we? 
DRC has been operating in the Middle East and North Africa for over a decade, running a combination of livelihood, protection, advocacy and relief projects. DRC has six project offices throughout Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Tunisia/Libya, Turkey, and both a country and regional office in Jordan. 
DRC Lebanon has been assisting the Syrian displaced, fleeing Syria into northern Lebanon, since May 2011. This assistance has come through the provision of food and non-food items, various outreach activities (registration, follow-up and awareness sessions) rehabilitation of collective shelters and the implementation of quick impact projects.

About the job 
Responsible for community mobilization, provision of structured psychosocial support activities in mobile team and committees’ management.

Duties 

• Facilitate the establishment and development of the youth, women, men and neighborhood committees (incl. recruitment, commitment, development of terms of reference, follow up, community mobilization, etc.) 
• In coordination with the Community Center Officer organize training for the committees member on psychosocial support (PSS) and protection key topics, including on how to conduct awareness sessions and deliver or deliver a PSS session 
• Mentor, monitor and supervise the work of the committees when applicableor needed. 
• Support the committee members in identifying and referring vulnerable cases while working to ensure that the vulnerabilities of Syrian and Lebanese beneficiaries are reduced and their resilience strengthened. 
• Support the committee members in organizing activities and elaborating their yearly action plans; 
• Facilitate awareness sessionsand information dissemination sessions when needed; 
• Organize community public events, fundraising activities and campaigns on specific topics: children rights, child-on-child violence, child labor, inter-generational dialogue, women participation and positive intra-household and intra-community relations;

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you must have Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, psychology or other related field; Full knowledge about community mobilization and good knowledge of protection concepts; Very good communication skills with children, women, men, and local stakeholders. As well as at least 2 years of experience in provision of community mobilization activities, and experience working with community  leaders and stakeholders;

 

Ideally you will also have Good reporting skills, previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings and previous experience working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

We offer 

An interesting job in one of the world’s best NGOs. DRC will offer the successful applicant a 6 months contract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from the of April and be willing and able to work in Kobayat, Akkar. 
Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National staff. This position will be placed at levelB1, equivalent to 1,250$ per month.
